Establishing strong credibility with Google My Business will earn you higher rankings, its that simple.
The easiest and most obvious way to accomplish this is filling out your profile in full. When editing your profile we recommend starting from the top and working all the way down. Make sure and list your service offerings in detail and select your primary offering.
Fill in your business hours correctly and add in the geographical areas you serve. If you are city based its best to add surrounding metro areas within a radius of 50 miles or so. In Big Orange Planet’s case for example we are based in Denver so we’ve made sure to add surrounding suburbs and cities like Littleton,Boulder, Lakewood and so forth. And those social profiles- Youtube, Facebook, and their ilk, get those correctly entered also. Add your logo and a tasteful cover photo that represents your organization well. Essentially the more verifiable information you provide, the better.
Don’t neglect to add photos and posts regularly. Google will give higher credence to profiles that have frequent engagement. If a profile is left dormant it demonstrates a lack of interaction.
From a photos perspective its recommended to post from multiple locations and also multiple google accounts if this is possible and/or relevant.. There’s nothing suspicious about company employees posting from their home computer. Multiple employees posting from different accounts with varying geo tags pains a solid overall picture of your service region. It goes without saying these photos must be relevant to your business- no cat photos please, unless you run a cat daycare or the like.
In the same area as photos you will see “Add Updates”. The same rules as adding photos apply here- weekly or bi-weekly updates will stand you in good stead. Really you can post updates as often as you’d like. Posts should be informative and relative to your firm’s business model, and again posts from different employees are strongly encouraged. Viewers of your profile will be more likely to interact if the post contains an image, its just human nature. And it helps to contain links to your website (a blog post for example). Also it won’t hurt to link to external sources where applicable that pertain to your organization.
